Palm tree light, pink heart neon and darling neon
This time of year our thoughts turn towards our evenings - the darkness begins to arrive earlier with Autumn and all it's activities for us to enjoy - Halloween, bonfire night , outside dinning (if you are lucky enough to have a fire pit or outdoor heater), local festivals, events and fairs - we want to light up our evenings and get on with feeling cosy.
We are obsessed with lighting in our house and the idea that not only is it exceedingly important for setting a mood and making our homes more comfortable and easier to use - it also can be a fantastic design feature. After all cosy doesn't have to be dowdy or dull!
A design feature does not have to involve a massive ornate light fitting hanging from your ceiling rose - there are so many amazing table and floor lamps out there. As a consumer you really are spoilt for choice when looking to find a quirky lamp or fixture to add to your scheme. Where to start is the question!
Since being part of the Rockett St George pop up - I can most definitely recommend you starting with RSG - I really appreciate just how fabulous and quirky their lighting selection is - you are guaranteed to have a great focal point if you buy lights or lighting from them. So with this in mind I thought I'd give you all a peak at my favourite Rockett St George lamps and light fittings from the pop up.
Duck feet lamp ( a Liberty pop up exclusive) - this quirky and sophisticated table lamp is only available in store at Liberty. The colour way of black and gold is neutral enough for it to suit any room - not just a living room but bedrooms too. It's sleek design leaves it quietly adding character to your room scheme without even trying!
Palm tree floor light - £540 ... this amazing metallic palm tree with vintage style oversized globe light bulbs ( sold separately ) looks amazing anywhere - with hints of art deco and Hollywood glamour, it gives a summery, tiki feel so you can dream of summery climes and during winter months feels festive and adds a quirky warm glow to a room (even with the lights off!) Its definitely on my list of must buys!
Selection of fabulous neon - Hell Yeah! - various prices Not practical lighting per se but boy does it look cool! This new generation LED style neon ( so no overheating!) is brilliant and expressive - add to your picture wall or install in that odd corner your thought you would have to leave empty - these neons are so flexible, there are phrases and words on black backing ( like Hell Yeah! Pictured above) and non backed hearts and stars - which can be either hung on the wall or placed/ propped in or on something to create a display. Hell Yeah! is my favourite as it is a little rebellious and definitely enthusiastic and fun.
Qwerty typewriter lamp- £164 Speaking to visitors to the pop up this is a marmite lamp ( you either love it or hate it) I absolutely adore it - it"s humorous, quirky, has a vintage feel and is conversation starter. It's a good size, not too big so can be used on a side or bedside table as well as it having enough presence to be a focal point in a living room or study.
Mr Jumbo Elephant table lamp - £90 What's not to like about this cutie? If you know us you will be aware our love of animal homeware and design. This guy can look good in a home like ours full of quirky things or in a more styled down scheme as the one quirky piece and for such a great piece the price point is spot on and accessible.
Hiding lady lamp - £350 This beautiful table lamp whilst very much an investment piece is so beautiful and stylish is very much irresistible. As you know I'm not normally a white kinda girl but this is so cool and quirky it would look fabulous in a 'dark decor' room. It would look fabulous in a monochrome scheme as much as an opulent grownup room.
Hanging white monkey wall lamp & Sitting monkey table lamp- £205 & £150 These guys are without a doubt the most joyful in the pop up lighting selection. You cannot help but smile when you see them and if I where thinking of adding more lamps to my home they would both be coming home with me! I love the idea of them being part of an open plan living space you could have the table lamp at one end and the wall mounted lamp on the other and they would tie the room together perfectly but as they are neutral in colour would be very stylish and could be taken into a new scheme should you redecorate.
Romano black gloss floor lamp with shade- £365 If you have gothic tendencies like me you will adore this beautiful and sophisticated black number! With it's oversized curves and glossy finish it is a design feature worth every penny. To me it also has a slight retro feel and could easily fit in a vintage styled room ( the fifties through to seventies inspired decor) as well as a victorian or baroque styled scheme. It is a contemporary take on a traditional lamp. ( you can tell I rather like it !!!)
Ceramic super nova star light - brown and white options both with gold flex - £199 each These are fabulous as you can wall mount them, place them on a table or probe them a shelf. Simply designed , chic with a retro feel could work well in both living areas or a teenagers room.
Brass Aston ceiling light, Asymetric shiny copper lampshade, Ace Ceiling Light £69, £65, £129 This trio of gold and copper ceiling lights are great statement pieces. The Brass aston ceiling light a great down light perfect to place over a display for moodier lighting the other two a more all round brighter light - all three look stylish and beautiful with the light turned off - especially with the reflective qualities of the metal. I think these would also look rather fabulous hung together in an office or retail setting.
Brass and smoke glass table light - £172.50 This lamp with smoke glass gives off a great mood lighting perfect for autumn and winter evenings and a romantic glow for your cosy living room. This would work well in a chic modern scheme due to it's simple styling as well as vintage bohemian room because of it's colour. Simple and stylish.
Kettlebell floor or table lamp - £169 Nickel plated aluminium with gold leaf inside this retro inspired - with a sci-fi futuristic feel - lamp is mood lighting gold. I can some how imagine this quirky number featuring in Barberella's set! Would work well in a mid century living room or a study ( picturing it along side a cool vinyl collection right now!)
Ribbed antiqued silver ceiling pendant light - £79 This lovely ceiling light with matching ribbed ceiling rose would look fabulous in a kitchen or kitchen diner as well as a industrial styled living space. I can also see it looking stylish in a studio or craft space too. Great price point and beautiful simple stylish design a winner all round.
Brass flower ceiling light - £120 each These are amazing either grouped together at different heights or alone. Great in a stair well / hallway especially if you have high ceilings or over a dinning table or in a conservatory. Great antiqued, vintage feel and look particularly stylish with the vintage style LED bulbs with the stylish filaments.
Of course there are many more options on the website too! Warning you will be inspired!! have a well lit, stylish and cosy autumn!
